Denver Zoo is looking for a dynamic individual to curate our Hoofed Stock and African Carnivores department. This area of the zoo will require a leader who can take this opportunity to advance the mission and core values of the Denver Zoo which is to Secure a Better World Through Human Understanding by protecting, innovating, honoring, engaging, empowering and serving the animals, our staff and our guests. The qualified candidate will oversee all animal care aspects of the facility which houses Giraffe, Lesser Kudu, Bactrian and Dromedarian Camels, Kangaroos, Okapi, Lions, Hyena, African Wild Dogs, Prezwalskis’ Horse, a variety of other hoofed stock species as well as some birds. The chosen candidate must also have excellent interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills. The chosen candidate will report to the VP for Animal Collections and will direct, lead and be part of a team of one supervisor and thirteen animal care staff. There will be an expectation that the candidate will have a vision for the exhibit, the animals and staff to continue to expand and improve both animal care and staff excellence. All candidates must have a BA/BS in Biology, Zoology or a related field and have at least 3 years curatorial/supervisory experience at an AZA institution.
